Manana is Here to Create a Culture of Helping in Nashville, TN, and Surrounding Areas
The Manana Story
Manana means “thank you” in Pashtu, our founder’s native language. Manana is more significant than an automatic response to kindness. The name refers to the exchange of gratitude that happens when two parties interact.
A couple of years ago, Manana’s founder, Fatima, had a business trip while her mother was recovering from hip replacement surgery. Fatima was concerned about leaving her mother’s side. She called several agencies to find someone who could assist her mother while she was away, but help could not be found. Given the lack of options, Fatima’s mother decided that she could manage a few days alone.
Unfortunately, while Fatima was on her business trip, her mother slipped and fell, which caused her to re-fracture her hip. This setback encouraged Fatima to turn her full attention to the problem of finding caregivers. She set out to create a sustainable solution that could potentially provide every individual in need with accessible, affordable, and exceptional care.
Manana provides the opportunity for Care Recipients and their families to experience gratitude and for the Helpers to feel the satisfaction of doing work that has an incredible impact. This is the real power of Manana.
Our Mission
We strive to inspire connection, gratitude, and good health by eliminating the barriers between Care Recipients and Helpers.
The Caregiver burden is increasing along with the social isolation of people who need help. Manana seeks to connect individuals with a community of specialized help grounded in empathy and reliability and promotes a shared opportunity for gratitude.
Manana exists to directly solve many families’ needs in finding reliable and caring support.
Our Values
1. Recognize the worth in everyone.
Manana is based on the belief that every person has value. Everyone is worthy of quality care and love. Manana exists to make care more accessible and widely available to all who need it.
2. Build community at every opportunity.
Manana fosters community because it’s the antithesis of isolation. We look for opportunities to build connections that wouldn’t otherwise exist. We seek passionate, compassionate people to be our helpers and work on our platform.
3. Keep people safe.
Manana is a safe platform, period. We are building a trustworthy community and have guardrails in place through background checks and reviews. Manana is a safe space for voicing any concerns. We will listen and believe you when you share your experiences.
4. Put people before technology.
Manana builds tech for good. Our technology is always humanistic. Care can’t be replaced by technology, but technology can facilitate engagement, remove barriers, and create community and connection.
5. Express gratitude always.
We believe the act of inspiring or receiving gratitude is healthy and life-changing. Both the Helper and Care Recipient walk away feeling enriched because help was offered, accepted, and appreciated. As a company, Manana honors the gratitude on both sides of the help equation and is grateful to create these moments of care.
